The League of Nations was an early effort, after World War 1, (1919) to band together the Allied nations into a common bond to protect each other’s ideals and safety. Although U.S. President Woodrow Wilson was a strong advocate of the League as he believed it would prevent future wars. But the 3 principal members (United States was an associate member) created some problems.

Treaty of Versailles

Negotiations at the Paris Peace Conference were complicated. The United Kingdom, France, and Italy fought together as the Allied Powers during the First World War. The United States entered the war in April 1917 as an Associated Power. While it fought alongside the Allies, the United States was not bound to honor pre-existing agreements among the Allied Powers. These agreements focused on postwar redistribution of territories. U.S. President Woodrow Wilson strongly opposed many of these arrangements, including Italian demands on the Adriatic. This often led to significant disagreements among the “Big Four.” Read more about it at https://history.state.gov/milestones/1914-1920.

Next came the United Nations, which shared the same ideals and expanded to include all countries, regardless of their individual beliefs. The problem has been that the United States has paid the bulk of the operating funds (an agreed upon percentage of each countries GNP, (gross national product) for many years. It has become an albatross as it is now used as a method to provide funding to rogue countries for unauthorized expenditures as reported in the last two weeks that went to the terrorist organization, the Palestinian militant group, HAMAS, instead of food for the people in Gaza.  I look for the US to eventually leave this organization.

NATO is another attempt to bind nations that are like-minded but again the agreed upon method of funding, using GNP failed and “guess who” footed the bill ($) you guessed it, the United States! President Trump, in no uncertain terms, informed those nations unless they came up with their share of operating funds (that all members had agreed to) the United States would not come to their aid until they complied! Some of those nations were actually operating each fiscal year with a cash surplus! Some countries began to increase their portion of funding but others have said that would take a number of years to move them to reach that fiscal goal!

AS A RESULT (AMONG OTHER REASONS) OUR COUNTRY HAS BECOME SO FAR IN DEBT THAT IT WILL TAKE A MIRACLE TO PAY OUR NATIONAL DEBT OFF! Your tax dollars are only used to pay most of the interest, but not all, so we go further in debt!

I have been reading, for a few years, that another “WORLD GOVERNMENT” organization is being now studied by a group of multi-millionaires from various countries, including Bill Gates! None of these options have worked in the past and I expect this is just another effort to control “the many by a few”, another (and I am being kind) Socialist controlled government!

Countries, tribes, organizations, and etc. have, since the beginning of time, attempted to take over the world but never succeeded. I AM A BELIEVER IN Theodore “TEDDY” ROOSEVELT’s famous saying “walk softly but carry a big stick”. It has served us well and can again ease tensions that now threaten the world!
